DIY Leash Decor
As the proud parent of a newly adopted puppy, I could not be more thrilled to spoil him and show my love for my dog in my home.
I looked through the wood section at my local Michaels hoping to find an unfinished wall mount rack. I didn't find anything even close, but I found the unfinished plaque section and shaker pegs. The light bulb went off and I decided to make my own.
I actually had wanted the heart plaques they had but none were big enough to go with the circles I had found, so a larger circle it was. For even more fun I decided to use chalkboard paint
tools needed: (not pictured)
- Drill
- 3/8" drillbit
- Hammer
Supplies:
-3 round wooden unfinished plaques(these were 4x4) (.99 cents ea)
-1 Large Wooden Unfinished Plaque ($1.99)
- 3 Shaker Pegs 7/16" (Set of 2 is $1.49)
-Chalkboard paint (about $5)
or any paint desired!
-Sawtooth picture hangers (x4) (I got a set of 5 at target for $2.99)
-Nails or non damage hooks to hang
You can see my dog liked them a bunch by the bite marks |
Directions:
1. Take a shaker peg and place it where you want on each of the small plaques, trace to make the hole where you want to drill and drill a hole to the approximate depth that the peg can insert to base.
2.Paint the circle wooden plaques in paint desired, if using chalkboard paint, follow the directions!
3. When plaques are dry nail sawtooths to desired location ( Toward tops or middle should be fine) 4. Place the shaker pegs inside holes (sometimes the paint will make it harder for the pegs to be placed and its safe to hammer them in. Paint them!
5. Hang on wall and enjoy! You can nail them to the wall or use the damage free sawtooth hanging hooks.
